Christmas nails 2012 – Gingerbreadman

Day 9 of the 12 nails of Christmas!!!

For day 9 we have gingerbread men. Cute. I’ve always wanted to make a gingerbread house, well, mansion really. With double garages and a driveway. But maybe that’s just me. And of course featuring ‘load bearing candy canes!’

The colours i used for this are:

Peach Melba’ by Barry M, ‘Pink Iridescent’ by Barry M, ‘Rose Sand’ by Maybelline, ‘Miss Sweety’ by GOSH, ‘Caribbean Coconut’ by All about nails, ‘Spring Green’ by Barry M, ‘Jelly Bean’ by BeautyUK, ‘Red Carpet’ by Rimmel and ‘Blackout’ by Rimmel.

More photos under the cut.

The base coat is peach Melba with a pink iridescent glitter on top. Taking one of the darker browns i started drawing out the shape of the gingerbread man on the nails. Once happy with the way it looked it filled in the shape with the lighter of the two browns, leaving a bit of the darker one out at the edge so it had an outline.

Once dry i started decorating the gingerbread men, First with a light cream tone, for the icing piping around the legs and arms and for the face. I then started adding in the gum drop buttons and the bow ties in various bright candy colours soon after.

Seal it all in with a topcoat to prevent from chipping.

I hope you have fun recreating this look.
