Christmas nails 2012 – Christmas Crackers

Day 7 of the 12 nails of Christmas and it’s Christmas Crackers!!

I have a thing with Christmas crackers. I like to search for the most expensive ones i can find. Not to buy, just to see what you get in them. I like to see the change between all plastic that breaks within the meal time, up to, jewelry boxes to keep and silver key chains.

The colours i used for this look are:

‘Hot Gossip’ by Rimmel, ‘Shade 9’ by 2true, ‘Azure’ by Rimmel, ‘312’ by Miss Sporty, ‘Peacock’ by 17, ‘Blackout’ by Rimmel and ‘Holographic Hero’ by GOSH.

More photos under the cut.

In order to these nails i first started by picking out colours that i thought would work as Christmas crackers. I went with the christmas colours of gold, red and green. I then added blue and silver for the frost and cold.

Once the colours were chosen i grouped then into 5 groups one for each nails. From there all i had to do was paint them. I opted for quite easy patterns of dots, stripes or zig zags.

I painted each nails as a whole nail, bringing the colour all the way to the edges. The next part is to make the cracker shape around the patterned nails. For this i took a striping brush and back paint and starting down the two sides i used the black to narrow the pattern. Then two lines across the nail to form the folds to the hand holding parts.

Finally i took a nail art pen and used this to make the zig zag ends to the cracker.

I hope you have fun recreating this look.
