Geek Series – Pokeball

I was thinking about what else i could put in the geek series and i remembered, while at the wedding of my friend a few weeks back, towards the end of the night an amazing moment happened. The Pokemon theme came on, and what made this moment amazing? We all, in unison, without prompting, started singing along, every word, without missing any. It was a beautiful moment.

Anyway that’s what inspired me to do these nails.

‘I wanna be the very best, like no one ever was. To catch them is my real test, to train them is my cause.
I will travel across the land, searching far and wide. Each Pokemon to understand, the power that’s inside.
Pokemon, its you and me, I know it’s my destiny, Pokemon, oh, you’re my best friend, in a world we must defend, Pokemon, a heart so true, our courage will pull us through.’

Anyway……… The colours i used for this look are:

‘White on white’ by Revlon, ‘Blackout’ by Rimmel, and ‘Hot gossip’ by Rimmel.

Plenty more photos after the cut.

To start these nails, i painted the nails white first. As everyone who’s had to use white nail varnish will ever tell you. White nail varnish sucks. This ones the best one i’ve found so far and there are some tricks to getting it better  But i’ve never found one that isn’t streaky!!!!!! They all need above 4 coats to even start looking normal.

Once the white is dry i went in with the red and did about half half. One coat was good enough but i thought i’d give two just to make sure. I tried to get the partition as straight as i could so the next step was easier.

Taking a fine brush and the black i drew a black line all the way across the nail. Making it thick enough to cover any overlaps of the wrong colour. Once this was dry i took the white again and using a dotting tool, put a drop of white in the middle of the black line.

Once this drop was dry i took the fine brush and the black nail polish again and when around the dot forming a circle. In the centre of this circle i drew another smaller circle or a hint of a circle.

And that’s all there is to it! I hope you have fun recreating this look.
